The props which are needed for the film opening I am creating are quite minimal but the ones which we need are incredibly important.
Our main props are
- Purple ribbon to tie around
- Journal containing writing, newspaper clippings and images.
- Rope
When creating the journal I looked at other sources to get inspiration for the sorts of things that will be included. I looked at the journal/written material which is used within the opening sequence of the film Se7en. Within this some of the images and writing were quite unsettling for the viewer and gave an immediate impression of what the killer is like. I also took inspiration from a journal which is used within season one of the television show
Supernatural. Within the journal in Supernatural there are exorcisms written in Latin and writings which are revolved around religion, a common trait of films which involve killers is the underlying tones of religious influence, for this is decided that the exorcism being used within the journal would be an effective way of making the viewer question the contents and tie in the religious theme.
Below are images of the journal which I created from scratch, this will be used throughout the opening sequence.
Below is the ribbon which we have chosen to use, it is a striking colour and has regal connotations which contrasts heavily with the mood of our opening sequence.
Below is the rope which we will use in the scene where Amelia Wood is hung
