Experiemnting with 'Sin City' colour select effect

The movie Sin City is a 2005 American neo-noir crime thriller which is based on a comic book. The film was colour-corrected digitally and, as in film noir tradition, treated for heightened contrast to more clearly separate blacks and whites. This was done not only to give a more film-noir look, but also to make it appear more like the original comic. 

I took inspiration from this effect and experimented with the possibility of colour-popping in my opening sequence. Whilst Sin City is mostly associated with the strong presence of the colour Red, I felt that it could potentially be effective when used on the purple ribbon. 





By using Fireworks I took image stills from some of the clips and made everything black and white except for the purple ribbon.
