Who would be the audience for your media product?

The typical audience of a crime/psychological thriller are rated 18 because of the violence and explicit nature of many films within the genre, these themes can often be disturbing and unsettling for younger viewers.

My film Fixation would be rated as a 15 because I want it to have the ability to appeal to a slightly older audience without preventing my audience who are slightly younger than the typical 18 age rating of a crime/ psychological thriller to be put off of the film because they would not be able to view it in a cinema. 

The gender of my audience will be mixed male and female. I will appeal to both genders by following codes and conventions which are not limited to one type of person, the thriller element will appeal to a male audience whilst the male protagonist and complex storyline is more likely to appeal to the female audience. The psychographic profile of my audience may be complex, they would be interested in a variety of activities as it is unlikely they will be interested in murder as such, they may merely take an interest in murder/crime centred programmes because it is something out of the ordinary which distracts from their everyday lives. 

My audience will be accessible through both print and digital advertisement. Advertising the film trailer before films of a similar genre and age rating is an effective way to reach my demographic whilst the viewer is also likely to have access social media which can be an excellent platform for promotion within today's society.
