9 key shots - Opening sequence of True Detective

The opening sequence of 'True Detective' is heavily influenced by double exposure works by photographers such as Dan Mountford. Whilst the photographer uses Photoshop to edit portraits and landscapes together to create images with a dream-like quality, this sequence does so using video. The creation of the show's opening title sequence was a collaborative effort between three Australian motion graphic design companies; Brisbane-based Breeder, Elastic and Antibody, both based out of Sydney. I chose to analyse a television series opening rather than a film opening because I felt that this opening represents what I would like to achieve within the message of my opening title sequence. Below I have identified and analysed what I believe are the 9 key shots in the opening sequence of True Detective.
